Roadtrip day 1 (Biarritz - Jaca)

We started around 12 at the camping with only a rough plan to go to Jaca today.
First to Espelette then to St. Jean Pied de Port and over the pass (puerto de Somport (1640m)) via Canfranc- Estacion to Jaca.

We checked the rain radar and it was quite unlikely to stay dry so we right away put on our rain clothes.

One of the navigation problems today was, that the motorcycle app “kurviger“ only uses and shows the basquian names. which you don't find in the street maps...  but we found our way ;)

It took about 3 hours until we really needed the rain clothes but at least at the pass it was more than needed. We got really wet there and it was really cold (11°C). When we drove down at the Spanish side we reached Canfranc - Estacion. This amazing huge station was not used for long and is nowadays only serving regional passengers. Two years ago we could not make it there but this time we were happy to see it.

When reaching Jaca we were freezing and hungry. But we found the same hotel we had two years ago and after asking once again (the first time it was not possible)  we could also put the bikes into the warm garage.

We had a three dishes menu in the nice old town and are again very tired now.

About 300km today.

Leaning of today: Always ask twice!
